The cashier asks whether you have Aura. You say yes, finish paying, and forget about the balance until the next visit. The programme becomes more useful when you know what those points are worth and check the member offer before buying.
What is Aura?
Aura is Alshaya’s free lifestyle rewards programme. Members use the Aura MENA app to earn points, access member prices and offers, and redeem rewards with participating brands. In the UAE, 50 Aura points redeem for AED 1. Aura FAQ
The distinction is simple: an offer can change today’s price, while points build value for a future purchase. Check both, but do not count the same benefit twice when deciding whether an item is a good buy.
The 2026 exception: Aura Pass
Aura’s everyday membership is free, but Aura Pass is a separate, paid UAE upgrade for 2026. Alshaya launched it at AED 199 including VAT, with 30% off full-price items at more than 30 participating brands and benefits valid until 31 December 2026. The launch named Starbucks, H&M, Shake Shack, Victoria’s Secret and Ulta Beauty among the participants. This is an immediate discount, rather than points to spend later. The Pass allows unlimited use within its validity, subject to the participating brands and offer rules. Scan the offer QR code at the till, or link Aura and apply the offer online. For someone considering a pass, the fee is covered after approximately AED 664 of spending that fully qualifies for the 30% discount. For illustration, AED 700 of qualifying purchases saves AED 210, or AED 11 after the original AED 199 fee. That calculation only helps if these were purchases you would have made anyway.
Already have Aura Pass? Remember to use it on eligible purchases before year-end. For new purchases, distinguish the expiry of the benefits from the purchase window: Alshaya’s original registration period ran from 17 June to 5 July 2026. Hello, Star and VIP
Aura has three tiers. Hello is the entry tier, Star starts at 6,000 tier points, and VIP starts at 24,000. Its benefits page describes standard rewards of 2% back in points for Hello, 3% for Star and 4% for VIP. Brand-specific exceptions apply. Aura tiers and benefits
For illustration, an eligible AED 100 purchase before VAT at a standard Hello earning rate produces 100 points, worth AED 2 at the UAE redemption rate. Those points are a future reward, rather than an automatic AED 2 reduction in the bill.
Tier points and spendable points serve different purposes. Tier points determine status; redeeming your spendable balance does not downgrade your tier. Bonus points do not count towards tier qualification. Aura FAQ
How to earn and redeem
Register through Aura MENA and open your Aura ID before checkout.
Confirm that the brand and purchase participate; identify any member price or offer you want to use.
Present your membership in-store, or link Aura to your account on the participating brand’s website.
Choose whether to use available points against the purchase, then check your balance and receipt.
The rules that change the result
Aura’s terms calculate earnings on qualifying spend excluding VAT. The part paid with points does not earn new points. Primark has a different earning rate, and Boots medicinal products and Alshaya gift-card purchases are excluded from points earning. Aura terms and conditions
Base points normally last 12 months and bonus points three months. Under the published VIP rule, points do not expire while the member retains VIP status; that protection changes after a downgrade. Our advice: before a planned purchase, compare the member price with other available prices, then check whether you have points due to expire. A tier upgrade only adds value if the purchases that get you there were useful purchases anyway.

Does joining Aura cost anything?
The ordinary Aura membership is free. Aura Pass is an optional paid upgrade for its limited 2026 benefits; it does not replace the free programme.
Can Aura points be withdrawn as cash?
They are a programme reward used for eligible purchases and rewards. The terms do not allow cash redemption.
Will a return affect points?

Why did a purchase earn fewer points than expected?
Check the qualifying amount, tier, brand exceptions and payment split first. Keep the receipt so you can raise a specific query with Aura support rather than guessing from the total bill.
